Ubuntu was born from the Debian distro. The most serious weaknesses of
Debian are the long development cycles and unstable release schedules,
resulting in a killer combination. Ubuntu derived from Debian, knows
the weaknesses and fixed them. Ubuntu has adopted a consistent
six-month cycle. Consistently releasing updates, meaning users will
always have the latest and most updated software.
Today IBM and Canonical are introducing a cloud- and Linux-based
desktop package in the United States designed for use on corporate
personal computers or even netbooks.
