Google Caffeine: The new search index is here

Google has started using the new search engine indexing technology Caffeine. The new index would enable Google to continuously add more information from the web to the index, making the search experience more real-time.

As Google describes on its blog, the old search index can be seen as a layered whole, where certain information layers are only updated once every few weeks. The new search index collects small bits of information at a time, continuously updating the index. This process could enable Google to index webpages continuously and index a lot more pages as well.
