The new 32nm processor has an integrated dual-channel DDR3 memory controller. The i3 chip was clocked on 3,06Ghz and was compared with the Core2Duo E8400 on 3 GHz. Both test systems were equally equiped with 4 GB DDR3-1333 memory and a Radeon HD4870 1 GB video card.
The extensive set of benchmarks contained SiSoft Sandra, 3DMark and a number of games. The results of SiSoft Sandra, where they measured the memory bandwidth, the built in memory controller doesn't go unnoticed. The Core i3 has much better scores than the E8400, which communicated with the memory via the chipset.
