Netgear is addicted to Open Source

By Tim Quax on 04 july 2008

Netgear launches with the WGR614L it's second Open Source router! The router has 802.11g, Linux compatibility and open source firmware (yay!). It has a 240 MHz MIPS32 CPU with an external 2 dBi antenna.

That is so awesome. With these kinds of routers, the sky is the limit for the average Modder, as you can see with the Router Loadbalancer mod. The router is equipped with a 10/100 WAN poort, 4 ports 10/100 LAN switch, a SPI firewall, 40-, 128- and 152-bit WEP encryption, WPA, WPA2-PSK and the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).
